Restoration of honor

Request for Rehabilitation

When you are convicted by a criminal court, that conviction appears on your criminal record. However, a criminal record can make it challenging to find a job, for example. To prevent a conviction from following you for the rest of your life, you can apply for rehabilitation. It’s important to note that rehabilitation does not remove the convictions from your criminal record, but you will receive a certificate of good conduct.

With a request for rehabilitation, your criminal record becomes “clean.” How do you apply for rehabilitation? We assist with preparing your rehabilitation request. To submit a rehabilitation request, several documents are required for the file. We will review with you which documents are needed and where to submit the application.

Requirements for Rehabilitation

To obtain rehabilitation, you must meet certain conditions:

  • In principle, you must have served the sentence of imprisonment or paid the imposed fine, and you must have fulfilled any obligations for restitution, compensation, and payment of costs set out in the verdict. If the sentence can no longer be carried out due to prescription, this prescription must not be due to your own fault.
  • You must not have been granted rehabilitation in the last 10 years.
  • Furthermore, you must undergo a probation period, which can range from 3 to 10 years, depending on the nature of the sentence and the crime for which you are requesting rehabilitation.
