Divorce in Morocco

Divorce in Morocco

Did you know that after a divorce in Belgium or the Netherlands, you still need to have your divorce recognized in Morocco? Sahli Translation & Mediation can assist you fully with this process.

How do we proceed?
First, we check if your divorce is finalized in Belgium/Netherlands. Do you have the Non-Appeal statement/divorce certificate, indicating that your divorce is final? Once these documents are available, we handle the necessary translation into Arabic and then ensure they are legalized and apostilled. We then hand over the documents to the lawyer in Morocco, with whom we collaborate. They will request the validation of your divorce from the Family Court in their jurisdiction.

What documents do we need?

  • The full divorce decree from the court, signed by the president of the family court that issued the decree.
  • The Non-Appeal declaration. In some cases, this is stamped on the last page of your decree.
  • In some cases, we also request the registration of your divorce with the municipality. This can be done through the Civil Status (DABS) online portal.
  • In some cases, we also need your Belgian/Dutch marriage certificate, if your marriage is not registered in Morocco.

How long does this process take?
It depends on several factors: how quickly we receive the necessary documents, how long the translation takes, when the translations are legalized, and the rest depends on the court in Morocco. However, we do our best to finalize everything as quickly as possible for you.
