Interpreting Services

We also offer interpreting services, supporting the communication of social/justice services and local authorities with their clients/customers. It is one of the tools that can be used when language barriers prevent accessible or full access to services or assistance.

We help you discover the other by providing you with the right interpreter. An interpreter is expected to have thorough general knowledge, not to appear erudite, but to accurately and nuancedly translate the words of the speakers into another language. Globalization leads to increasing demand for interpreting services, while there are also many technological advancements in this field. We embrace this trend, innovate along with it, and ensure we are familiar with the latest interpreting technology, enabling us to provide you with the best interpreter services.

At Sahli Translation Services, you can rely on us to facilitate your communication whenever a language barrier arises. We assist with business visits, negotiations, official and commercial delegations both domestically and internationally, guaranteeing certified interpretation services in Belgium. You can count on our confidentiality and the secrecy of all conversations.

We primarily work in Standard Arabic, Moroccan Arabic, Middle Eastern Arabic, and Rif-Berber. Of course, we also offer services in other languages such as French, English, Spanish, and Turkish through colleagues in the industry.

You can count on us in a variety of specializations:

Court Interpreting
This refers to interpreting in a legal context, primarily in courts, tribunals, justice houses, and police services. Legal knowledge, both of the Belgian legal system and the legal system of the country where the foreign language is spoken, is crucial here.

Social Interpreting
In Belgium, a social interpreter is tasked with converting a spoken message from one language to another, thus granting non-native speakers access to information they are entitled to. This may take place in settings such as municipal offices, hospitals, social institutions, or schools. Interpretation can be done in the presence of the involved individuals or through various communication channels.

Simultaneous Interpreting
Simultaneous interpreting (listening and translating at the same time) for one to two listeners can be done by whispering the translation into the ears of the listeners nearby. For larger audiences, an interpretation system is required, often using interpreter booths or whisper sets. The interpreters sit in their booths per language, hear the speaker through headphones, and speak the translation into a microphone. The audience in the hall can select the translation they prefer via a switch. With only a few seconds of delay, the translation is available, as fluent as the original speech. Simultaneous interpreting requires intense concentration, perfect language skills, and broad general knowledge.

Consecutive Interpreting
In consecutive interpreting, the interpreter begins speaking only after the speaker has finished their statement, typically based on a few notes. The interpreter stands (or sits) next to the speaker and provides a translation sentence by sentence, in passages, or summarizing. This is often done in a three-party setting but can also be for an audience (unlike simultaneous interpreting). We use consecutive interpreting during assignments such as doctor visits, school meetings, discussions with lawyers, notaries, etc.

Conference Interpreting
Conference interpreters are among the most publicly visible categories within the interpreting sector. The interpreters convert discussions in meetings from a foreign language to their native language.

Wiretap Interpreting
Wiretap interpreters interpret and translate tapped phone calls, Facebook, and Skype conversations for police and justice services. There is no interaction between the interpreter and the speaker in this case. The interpreter listens to the tapped conversations and interprets (the interpreting part of their work) while simultaneously typing their interpretation in Dutch (the translation part of their work).

Transcription
The transcription service is best described as converting audio recordings into written text. An interpreter in this case is called a transcriber. A transcriber ensures that an audio recording is transcribed into a word processor. These could be film clips or audio passages.

Football Interpreting
You can use Sahli Translation Services during international football matches, for interviews, or for making transcriptions. Sahli Translation Services can also assist you with personalized language lessons for players and coaches targeting the Dutch or Arabic market.

Video Interpreting
